Rec Softball FAQ

  • Q: Who can play Mt. Laurel Girls Softball?
  • A: Any girl that has turned five as of April 1st all the way up to girls who are under 18 as of January 1st.  We offer leagues for all ages.  T-ball is grade based. All other leagues are based on birth year.
  • Q: For which league should I sign up my child?
  • A:  Girls in kindergarten will sign up for T-ball.  If your child has already completed kindergarten, you will register them for a league that is based on their birth year.

  • Q: My child is really good at softball, and we want to move them up to the next league, but the website won't allow it.  How do we go about doing this?
  • A: Although we recommend that your child play with their age group in our recreation programs, there are times that it makes sense to have a child move up a league.  If you feel that your child should be considered for a different league, please contact the commissioner of the league to which you'd like to move them. If you are unable to get in contact with a commissioner, you can email [email protected], and we will help you get in touch with the correct people.  Players wishing to move up are evaluated on a case-by-case basis and must be re-evaluated each year they would be playing above their age group.
  • Q: My child plays another sport or participates in another activity. What days of the week will they have softball practices/games?
  • A: We can't say.  It changes year to year based on our registration numbers.  Based on league sizes and field availability, you may find that your child's league's scheduled softball activities are linked to a couple of time slots each week.  On average, especially at the younger ages, your child will be scheduled for softball once during the week and once on the weekend.  If your child has a conflict with softball and another activity, it is up to the parents/guardians and child to decide how to handle the conflict.  We recommend softball, but we are biased.  If you choose the other activity over softball, please let your child's coach know.
  • Q: Can you tell me when my child's practices/games will be?
  • A: We can't say.  It changes year to year based on our registration numbers.  Based on league sizes and field availability, you may find that your child's league's scheduled softball activities are linked to a couple of time slots each week.  On average, especially at the younger ages, your child will be scheduled for softball once during the week and once on the weekend.  If your child has a conflict with softball and another activity, it is up to the parents/guardians and child to decide how to handle the conflict.  We recommend softball, but we are biased.  If you choose the other activity over softball, please let your child's coach know.
